LSA Culture Change Initiatives

The nursing homes of Lutheran Services for the Aging have led the “culture change” revolution in the state by developing communities where elders enjoy living and employees enjoy working. Culture change is a term used to describe the movement away from a medical, hospital-like model of care. Culture change is about emphasizing the home in nursing home.

LSA nursing homes are true homes where aging is not viewed as a disease, but rather as another stage of life. Residents are not isolated but instead kept connected to the community through a large network of volunteers, programs of community service, and activities that promote inclusion and collaboration. Elders are surrounded with all the wonderful things that a living world has to offer including people, plants, animals, and purposeful activity. Below are links to more information regarding LSA’s culture change efforts.
