| Celebrate LSA Sunday!
Fifty Years of Growing Old Together
Lutheran Services for the Aging (LSA) was created by the North Carolina Synod in 1960 as a ministry of Christian care for older adults. LSA serves over a thousand older adults through five nursing homes, an adult day service program, assisted living residences, and two retirement communities. Its mission is to express God’s love in Christ to those served by its ministries.
Many years ago the synod designated May as LSA’s month of emphasis. The second Sunday of May, Mother’s Day, is the beginning of National Nursing Home Week, and May is also Older Americans Month. During the month of May, please share the good news of the LSA ministry with your congregation by designating one Sunday as LSA Sunday. LSA Sunday is a wonderful way to honor both LSA and the older members of your congregation. Many churches celebrate LSA Sunday on Mother’s Day. If Mother’s Day is crowded with congregational activities, please consider celebrating LSA Sunday on another Sunday.
If you have questions regarding LSA Sunday, would like to arrange for a speaker from LSA to visit your congregation, or would like to have LSA Sunday materials mailed or e-mailed to you, please contact Kristen Kitchen, LSA development associate at kkitchen@lsanc.net or at 704-637-2870. Thank you!
